TASKS
A robust and safe navigation system is the key to ensure the required high level of safety of manned and unmanned aircrafts. It is our task to provide a high-frequency navigation solution with high availability, continuity, integrity and accuracy even for the different flight phases in adverse conditions such as GNSSdenied environments. <
Therefore, a modern military aircraft navigation system compromises standard equipment such as inertial navigation system, satellite and radio navigation but also novel navigation sensors and methods. The job is design a navigation system architecture and select standard equipment which fulfills the requirements derived from the operational concept.
Moreover, integration concepts for new navigation sensors and methods shall be developed which
includes programming of a navigation filter and navigation algorithms.
The main tasks are:
Analysis, evaluation and coordination of the requirements derived from the operational concept for a navigation system suitable for aviation
Conversion of the identified requirements into a technical solution (taking into account the existing aviation equipment and its functions)
Close cooperation and coordination with software and system engineers to efficiently implement the developed architecture
Development of innovative integration methods in order to enable the dual-use sensor concept for aeronautical navigation applications
Execution of trade-off analyses
Specification, development and testing of novel navigation systems
Implementation and system support of software prototypes for the navigation system
Implementation/support of system integration and system verification by appropriate functional tests
Performing and participating in validation reviews according to the aviation specific development process
Support of the certification activities (e.g. with aviation authority EASA)
